Sleppet

Sleppet – The Sound of Norwegian Spring opened yesterday in Oslo.

It is a commemorative sound art exhibition part of the 100th anniversary of Edvard Griegs death in September 1907 curated by Jørgen Larsson. It runs also as part of the Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival.

Quite a diverse collection of sound works brought together but all of it based on field recordings held in Norway during Spring this year.

Artists are Natasha Barrett, Marc Behrens, Steve Roden,  Bjarne Kvinnsland, Chris Watson and Jana Winderen.

August Report

Uploaded a first recording from my August travels to Freesound a couple of days ago. Called the piece “Placo dei Tanadou”. It was recorded one sunny morning on the Place des Tanneurs in Aix-en-Provence and it tells the story of the square coming to life.

Tried to keep the equipment list as limited as possible to enable easy travel. I decided all recordings would be in stereo and opted for the MS and XY techniques. So here is the list:

Microphones: Pearl MSH-10 and Røde NT4
Mixer: Sound Devices 302
Recorder: Nagra ARES-PII+

Still working on a second piece. Probably will only get posted to 900hz.net.
